Michael Johnston, the rising actor from the highly successful film Obsession, has officially joined forces with the Gersh agency. This partnership comes after a competitive pursuit by various agencies, all vying to represent the burgeoning talent.

Johnston's career trajectory saw a dramatic shift following the release of Obsession. Prior to this box office phenomenon, he operated without formal agency representation. The independent feature, acquired by Focus after its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, has since become the studio's most lucrative release globally and domestically, grossing an impressive $234.5 million worldwide.

His journey to starring in Obsession began when director Curry Barker faced challenges in finding the ideal actor for the role of Bear, a character central to the film's narrative about an ill-fated wish. Casting director Skyler Zurn, remembering Johnston from previous auditions, presented his past work to Barker. This led to chemistry readings where Johnston’s pairing with Inde Navarrette, who played Nikki, immediately stood out. The film, produced on a modest budget of $750,000, achieved an extraordinary feat by earning more in its second and third weekends than its opening, a rare occurrence not seen since E.T.: The Extraterrestrial in 1982. Johnston maintains his affiliations with Tash Moseley Management, Atlas Talent Agency for voiceover work, and imPRint and Johnson Shapiro for publicity and legal matters.

Michael Johnston's narrative exemplifies how talent and opportunity can converge to create remarkable success stories within the entertainment industry. His dedication and the unexpected triumph of Obsession underscore the importance of perseverance and the significant impact a single role can have on an actor's path, inspiring aspiring artists to relentlessly pursue their dreams.
