Veteran filmmaker Oliver Stone has recently wrapped up principal photography on his newest dramatic endeavor, “White Lies.” This production signals Stone’s return to narrative features following a hiatus of over ten years. The film boasts a distinguished ensemble cast, including celebrated actors Michael Douglas and Willem Dafoe, both of whom have previously collaborated with Stone on critically acclaimed projects. Additionally, Ellen Barkin and Homer Gere join the cast, bringing their talents to this intimate exploration of human relationships. The movie is poised to offer audiences a profound narrative centered on themes of kinship, bereavement, and the intricate ways in which affection transforms throughout life's journey.

The film, written and directed by Stone himself, is characterized as an intimate and thought-provoking drama. It delves deeply into the complexities of familial bonds, the profound impact of loss, and the various forms pain can take, ultimately revealing how love's essence can shift and adapt across a lifetime. This project follows Stone's unique vision, promising a nuanced portrayal of human experience.

According to the film's producers, “White Lies” unfolds across three distinct generations, tracing the life of its central character, Jack Freeman, portrayed by Josh Hartnett. Freeman, a product of divorce, finds himself repeating similar marital missteps with his own spouse and children. Feeling confined by his circumstances, he embarks on a hedonistic quest for liberation, only to discover himself more adrift than before. His path takes an unforeseen turn when he encounters a woman whose life stands in stark contrast to his own, initiating an unexpected journey of self-discovery and transformation.

Producer Fernando Sulichin, alongside Maximilien Arvelaiz and Jordan Gertner from Sulichin’s New Element Media, spearhead the production. New Element Media has a history of collaborating with Stone, having previously supported his films “Savages” and “Snowden.” Executive producing credits go to Tarak Ben Ammar and Gianluca Leurini of Eagle Pictures, as well as James Packer and Jose Luis Manzano, further solidifying the film’s strong production backing.

The return of Stone's long-time collaborators, Michael Douglas and Willem Dafoe, adds a layer of anticipation to “White Lies.” Douglas, known for his role in Stone's "Wall Street," and Dafoe, who starred in "Platoon" and "Born on the Fourth of July," reunite with the director, highlighting a strong creative synergy. Stone expressed immense gratitude for the cast and the Italian crew, praising their dedication and the warmth of the working environment. This reunion of talent, coupled with the intriguing narrative, promises a compelling cinematic experience for global audiences.
