Honda Recalls 60,000 SUVs Over Malfunctioning Rearview Cameras
Honda is issuing a recall for almost 60,000 sports utility vehicles, encompassing both the 2024 Acura ZDX and the 2024-2025 Honda Prologue models. This action is prompted by concerns over potential malfunctions in their rearview camera systems. The root cause of the problem has been identified as a flaw in the camera housing's bonding, which could permit the entry of moisture, subsequently leading to corrosion of internal electrical components and resulting in a blurred, distorted, or completely blank display on the screen.
The affected vehicles, specifically the 2024 Acura ZDX and the 2024-2025 Honda Prologue, share a common platform with General Motors' electric vehicles. Honda initiated an inquiry into this potential defect in May 2024, collaborating with General Motors a month later. Their joint investigation has involved meticulous examination of returned parts and an extensive review of market data. By early May 2026, Honda formally recognized the existence of a motor vehicle safety defect, leading to the decision to issue a safety recall.
According to the official recall report, Honda has received 2,411 warranty claims concerning this camera malfunction. However, the company has confirmed that, as of now, there have been no reported accidents, injuries, or fatalities directly attributable to this issue.
